Meg, 15, of Everton, will move to England in September to become a full-time student at the Royal Ballet School in London, where she recently completed a spring intensive program.
"I was very excited, because it's the place I've always wanted to go," she said.
"I was shocked because I didn't really expect it, but I was very happy."

As a result of her time in Europe, Meg was also offered positions at the Princess Grace Academy in Monaco and Stuttgart's John Cranko School but decided to accept the London opportunity.
"There's a lot of history related to the Royal Ballet School," her mother Robyn said.
"Some of Meg's idols have come out of there so that was a bonus as well."
Meg studies at Projection Dance School, with her academic schooling through distance education for the past 18 months to allow more time on her craft.
School director Tim Podesta said he told Meg about three years ago she had the potential to aim for the best, but would have to train and focus without limitation.
"And she did just that," Podesta said.
"Meg is an amazing young lady and I have no doubt that one day she will be a leading ballerina on the world's stages."
Mrs Newton said her daughter would enter the senior section of the Royal Ballet School, transferring to the English school system.
The rest of the family, which includes her father Shane and older brother Tom, 17, is "really excited for her".
"You know, a bit sad, but it's what she wants to do and it's what she needs to do, so my husband and I fully support her," Mrs Newton said.
Meg said adjusting to her London life might be difficult at first, but she looked forward to making new friends.
"I love what I do, I love the hard work and I embrace the challenges," she said.
Her mother said the Royal Ballet School would help Meg settle in.
"They've been doing this for many, many years," she said.
"She'll have a guardian over there so if there's any problems she's got someone to go to, it's all very well organised."
