The CFA building on Thomas Mitchell Drive will open its doors on Saturday as part of an official unveiling.
Firefighters have been working from the new facility for months after moving out of the outdated station on the corner of Stanley and Smythe streets, which was built more than 40 years ago.
The $7.8 million building is able to house 50 firefighters across five shifts, and has been built to account for the growth of Wodonga.
Senior station officer Andrew Schulz said volunteers would march to the station, which would be followed by an official opening with politicians and guests.
Members of the public will then be able to go on guided tours.
Mr Schulz said the facility had been working well since coming into operation.
"I think we've shaken all the bugs out of it," he said.
"The old station was built more than 40 years ago, and was built for one officer.
"The new station has been future proofed for the growth of Wodonga and the surrounding area.
"We've now got room for five firefighting appliances (trucks).
"The old one was all jammed in."
The old station had two engine bays and the Thomas Mitchel Drive site has five.
Mr Schulz said the building had improved areas for training, larger administrative areas, and a dedicated protective equipment room.
While the growth of Wodonga towards Baranduda and Leneva made it hard to find a perfect site, Mr Schulz said it was well placed to cover the region.
"For the future of Wodonga, it's not in a bad spot," he said.
The open day will feature a jumping castle, face painting and giveaways.
"It's basically just a day for the public to come in and have a look at the new facility," Mr Schulz said.
"If people are interested they can come down and have a look.
"There will be guided tours from about 11am."
A plaque will also be unveiled at the site.
The project was undertaken by Southern Cross Developers.
Saturday's formalities will start at 10am.
