Funky Farm kicked things off with a win at 100-1, then Nevada Dane ($4.40) completed the double with victory in the Toyota Material Handling Australia Class Three Showcase Handicap (1000m).

Nevada Dane was given the perfect trip by jockey Nikita Beriman and did it easy to score by a length, from Real Key ($4.20) and Liberty's Gift ($14.00).

Wellington could not have been happier to show off his small team in such fashion on Wagga Gold Cup day.

"It's what dreams are made of," Wellington said.

Nevada Dane had been a model of consistency this preparation and Wellington was pleased to see him breakthrough for another well-deserved win.

"It was fantastic. I really did give him a chance today," he said.

"This horse here has done really well. He's had a lot of foot problems and this time in he's been very consistent so we couldn't be happier."

Both horses entered the meeting with no heavy track form but it did not stop them from getting the job done.

"The track's come up beautiful. Wagga has done a great job," Wellington said.

"Funky Farm, he was definitely over the odds I feel. It was a really good run last start so that made it even better."

It was Beriman's second winner of the carnival, after guiding Baby Jack to victory on Thursday.

The race was hit hard with scratchings, losing six of the 13 runners.
