Dale received a 50m penalty after a Raiders' player appeared to kick the ball away from him, dragging the livewire forward to the goal square.
"There wasn't too much play after that, the ball went inside 50, there was a marking contest, we had a quick kick and then another and then the siren," heavily flu-ridden Saints' coach Jake Sharp said.
The Saints' fifth straight win, including another thriller over Wangaratta Rovers, equals the greatest start in the club's 69-year history.
And they're almost certain to break the mark next Saturday when they host Corowa-Rutherglen.
Dale followed up his classy four-goal effort against Yarrawonga with the same haul.
The electric forward is in career-best form with his pace and nous around goals proving difficult to counter.
Hugh Wales also backed up his terrific effort against the Pigeons with another strong display, while defenders Nathan Larcay and co-captain Matt Dussin also maintained their strong form.
Despite being severely inconvenienced, Sharp bagged a double, along with younger sibling Ryley.
Raiders' Connor Newnham landed four goals and impressed the opposition coach.
"He was pretty strong, he did a few special things and (Raiders' ruckman Brodie) A'Vard, they really marked strongly all day," he enthused.
Twenty-year-old Newnham looks capable at times of tearing a game apart and as he continues to improve his consistency, which naturally isn't uncommon for a youngster, he will lift his solid standing among the league's forwards.
Sweet-kicking Daniel Bowles and Tom Gibbs also performed well.
The stage is now set for the league's biggest grudge match in years.
Daryn Cresswell led Raiders to four straight finals appearances, before he joined Wangaratta Rovers.
