The league released its initial squad of 54 players yesterday.
The squad will train on Tuesday and Thursday next week at Jindera before the final side is named.
"I feel we have got a good mix of youth and experience in the squad," Piltz said.
"It is a fairly large squad but history tells you by the time the match rolls around we will lose a few with unavailability.
"There is a few blokes in there with a few niggles but we want to give them every chance to get themselves right.
"But I've been pretty happy with the response from the players and the support of the coaches.
"I'm not looking forward to selection to be honest when you see how much quality there is in the squad.
"But I'm keen to give blokes who have previously committed to inter-league the option to represent the league again."
Hume have won its past two inter-league clashes against the Tallangatta and Ovens and King leagues.
