Two rounds into the home and away series, co-coach Ben McCarthy is finding out exactly how tough with the Magpies yet to kick a goal.
They have been on the receiving end of 186 and 201-point losses.
Border-Walwa's problems have been compounded by McCarthy suffering a season-ending knee injury in round one and Alex Smith (broken collarbone) and Jamie McCarthy (knee) also going down.
"It's been pretty tough but the boys are keeping at it," McCarthy said.
"We have a lot of new faces and are trying to find something that works.
"After half-time against Bullioh, I thought we did alright
"Bullioh's coach said after the match that a lot of sides would have given up but we fought out the game."
Border-Walwa has only 27 players on its books after a tumultuous off-season with Rand-Walbundrie-Walla recruits Brayden Lieschke, Mitch Lauritzen and Myall Hoffmann starting well.
The Magpies take on Tumbarumba at Tumbarumba on Saturday.
Mitch Fennessy's side started with a big win over Corryong before falling to competition heavyweight Cudgewa by 201 points.
"Hopefully we can build on the second-half from last week," McCarthy said.
"There were some good signs."
Bullioh lock horns with Federal in a battle of the undefeated teams at Bullioh.
Corryong will struggle to contain Cudgewa at Corryong.
