A MAN who told Pauline Hanson she was not welcome in Albury says it was an impromptu protest prompted by a dislike of the One Nation leader's "racist" views.
Cade Newell, 41, says he was driving east on Swift Street when he saw the senator outside Albury's federal election voting centre on Thursday afternoon.
He said he was a member of an anti-racism group which posted his phone video of confronting Senator Hanson on its Facebook page.
"I exercised my right to free speech," Mr Newell said.
"This level of racism, Islamophobia and xenophobia is becoming normalised and emboldening racists - we've seen what happened with Christchurch."
Mr Newell said he was not in a political party and filmed the encounter due to concerns about violence and "also thought I might want to look back at it later".
