Summer Sutherland netted a double, while Amy Hollister and Sam Daly, who had to leave at half-time to travel to Sydney, also scored.

Despite not claiming all three points, Spitfires coach Matt Davis admitted it was the side's best performance of the campaign.

"We definitely improved our attack," Davis said.

"We created quite a few chances, won a few corners and put a few goals away.

"I was disappointed we didn't win, but in reflection it was a pretty good result.

"Everyone picked up a little bit and that helped us across the board."

The inclusion of Australian Country representative Jackleene Macarthur from Wagga was telling.

"She really helped out the forward line and gave confidence to the other young girls around her," Davis said.

"Summer put two away and Kate Reynolds had a good game in the middle when Sam (Daly) had to go at half-time.

"I wanted Hayley (Hutchinson) and Kate (Reynolds) to get more involved in the midfield and they definitely did that yesterday.

"They were looking for the ball a bit more and got the ball up to the forwards."
