"Joe Lumb always works hard, he's always got a good attitude, so 'Lumby' went hard in the middle," coach Adrian Purtell said.
Although not a big player, the rugged hooker is a strong low tackler, working on hitting opponents around the waist to chop them down.
It was hard to find too many other strong performers, given the Bulls domination of the first 50 minutes.
The home team averaged a try every 10 minutes in that time, destroying the visitors' hopes of a comeback.
Thunder doesn't get a chance to reload against one of the weaker teams though as it hosts Tumut on Sunday.
The Blues have suffered just the one loss - 36-29 to Southcity last week - so the home team knows it will face a comparable team to the Bulls.
It was also Thunder's first loss and it now sits third with three wins and a draw.
