The changes left the side facing a chronic player shortage, but the return of the program allowed five extra players to take to the field against Mitta at the weekend.
President John Thistleton said it was positive the program had resumed, but the team was still struggling with numbers.
"We continue to have a strong club commitment to providing opportunities for these players to reintegrate in to the community on their release and we believe this program is an important part of that process," he said.
The reserves fielded 16 players for the match.
