The Homicide Squad is investigating the woman's death after the remains were found by hunters near Abbeyard Road in Abbeyard about 3pm on Saturday.
The woman lived in the area and hadn't been reported missing, but hadn't been seen for nine months.
The remains are undergoing forensic testing.
