UPDATE: A promise to install safety barriers on the Melrose Drive overpass should be supported by whoever wins the federal election, says Stuart Baker.

The Baker family pushed for barriers to be installed on the Albury bridges.
Mr Baker lost his daughter, Mary, in similar circumstances to Mr Wright in 2011.
He welcomed yesterday's funding announcement, and said the project should go ahead whichever party is elected.
"I think it's pretty obvious they should be done," he said.
"If they take these safety precautions, you would hope that it makes a difference.
"Regardless of who gets into power after the weekend, let's call on them to make sure it's remedied."
EARLIER: If elected, the Morrison government, will provide $250,000 to erect safety barriers on Wodonga's Melrose Drive Hume Freeway overpass.
Earlier this month Albury football umpire Ken Wright opened up on the loss of his wife Carolyn, who died at the overpass.
He called on barriers to be erected at the site, like those on Albury bridges, to help prevent suicides.
"It has the potential for a catastrophic accident with devastating and long-lasting trauma for all those involved," he said.
"I first raised this issue at a meeting in the Victorian Parliament last September with VicRoads and a ministerial adviser.
"I was assured the matter would be investigated, that I would be kept in the loop.
"There was silence."

On Tuesday, Mr Tilley, joined by Liberal candidate for Indi Steve Martin and the Nationals candidate for Indi Mark Byatt, announced they would provide $250,000 to fund barriers if the Morrison government was re-elected.
Mr Martin said it was 'not a commitment to be politicised'.
"Mental health is not an issue to be politicised or trivialised, this is an issue close to the hearts of so many in our community and something that we should all agree on," he said.
Mr Byatt said keeping communities safe should be a priority.
"Matters such as public safety should be above party politics," he said.
