The long-time supporter of inter-league said he enjoyed the camaraderie of playing with the cream of the competition.

"The blokes you usually play against every week, it's good to play with them and get to know them a little bit better," Castles said.

"There is nothing wrong with Yackandandah's midfield but getting the ball delivered down your throat by blokes the calibre of Jayden Kotzur is something that appeals to me.

"I hope Kotzur is playing, I remember getting on the end of some of his passes when we were both at Albury and he is a class above."

Castles said he has also been impressed by the level of professionalism coach Mark Sarau had brought since being appointed coach earlier this year.

"His professionalism has been a real eye-opener," he said.

"I've never really met the guy previously but he has already got a game plan sorted, he has got structures in place, everything the backs, midfielders and forwards and what they need to do.

"You can't question his passion - it's like he's coaching his own club that he has been at for years."

Castles is coming off the biggest haul of his career after booting 17 goals against Wahgunyah on Saturday.

His previous best was 16 on two occasions against Wodonga Saints.

Castles said he could have given Peter Cook's record of 23 goals a shake if not for a case of the goalkicking yips.

"I kicked a lot of points and ended up kicking 17.10," he said.

"I could have given "Cookie's" record a shake if I had my goalkicking boots on."

Castles has now booted 50 goals in six matches and looks a certainty to notch his fourth consecutive ton, barring injury.

Chiltern co-coach Ricky Whitehead is providing some stiff competition and has also booted 50 goals so far this season.

Whitehead has been attending inter-league training and is also expected to play on Saturday.

The proposition of having both Whitehead and Castles lurking deep in attack would undoubtedly be causing the Ovens and King league plenty of headaches in the lead-up.

The match is set to be played at Sandy Creek with the Tallangatta league to announce its final team after training on Thursday night.
