A DRIVER involved in a crash which killed his partner had methamphetamine in his system at the time, police allege.

David John Munro faced Albury Local Court this week following the collision at Oaklands last year.
His partner Amy Lee Smith died in hospital following the early morning crash on Corowa Road, between Oaklands and Daysdale, on July 2 last year.
The impact of the crash was so severe, the engine dislodged from the blue Holden Commodore and was found about 50 metres away.
The car caught on fire and was gutted.
Munro was charged with contravening an apprehended domestic violence order, aggravated dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, and drug driving.

One charge alleges the 34-year-old's driving ability was "very substantially impaired by the fact that the accused was under the influence of a drug, to wit, methylamphetamine".
Munro and Ms Smith, a mother of nine, were both ejected from the vehicle and were airlifted to hospital.
Ms Smith died in hospital three days after the fiery collision.
Munro had a split kidney, seven broken ribs, punctured lungs, a split spleen and cuts and bruises.
There had been concerns he would also die.
Speaking after the crash, Munro's brother Paul said the children had been "really struggling".
"They're absolutely heartbroken as you would imagine," he said.
"They're finding it very difficult to get by day by day.
Munro will return to court on June 25.
The matter is listed for charge certification.
