ANU is yet to win a game this season, but co-coach Tony Donnolley knows his side needs to be better than its 4-0 win against them earlier in the year.

"The only thing we'll take out of that is we need to move it around the goalkeeper instead of having straight shots," he said.

"We're on the main field (Carter Field) this time which should make it a bit easier for us.

"It's not that we don't create the chances, we just aren't putting them away.

"We had about eight short corners last week and I think we only got one flick away.

"We couldn't get the push out straight or we weren't trapping it, which is pretty embarrassing at this level."

Defence has taken a hit with Jordan Thorneycroft (foot), Leigh Foulston (calf) and Dom Wild (work) unavailable, while Charley Wallace injured his quad upon return from a fractured wrist.

Donnolley comes into the side after a week out with a back complaint and will likely play in the back line.

"My back is 100 per cent better, the hip still has a bit of a niggle, but I can put up with that," he said.

Dave McQuilton and Zac White will also come in to cover the omissions, while Tas Kearney will get a further opportunity to impress.

The game starts at 2pm.

A trip to Canberra also awaits the Spitfires women on Saturday, who take on Central at Watt Field at 12.15pm.
