Greenwood is back at the Border club after a short stint with NPL Queensland leaders Peninsula Power.
The 19-year-old played a part in all 15 matches for the Power and will look to continue his good form for the remaining 15 fixtures with Murray.
Murray coach Elliot Jones revealed Greenwood will feature against Whittlesea Ranges at La Trobe on Saturday.
"I stayed in contact with Lewis when he went up to Queensland at the beginning of the year and he left Murray with everyone's blessing," Jones said.
"He was doing really well up there, so when the opportunity came for him to come home, it was a formality really.
"He's come through the Murray system, so we know exactly what we'll get with him.
Also in soccer:
"He can play as a wing back, he can play as a number 10, he can play up top and he's got an eye for goal - he's a really versatile player.
"When you're adding players to the roster mid-year, the guys that can play a number of positions are really attractive to the club."
He joins former Socceroo Jade North and Darcy Pawlik as the club's mid-season signings.
North is unavailable with work, but Jones will have no shortage of options.
Whittlesea sits ninth in NPL 2 West on seven points - six less than Murray, also ninth, in NPL 2 East.
With results going its way, a Murray win could see it jump from ninth to fifth.
