Secrets of the IN-Group is the first joint writing project of Carolyn Re and Loretta Re, the former a longtime Albury resident, the latter a frequent visitor.
"We've called ourselves the Resisters, because of the name," Loretta laughed.
In 2014, she wrote Stand Up And Cheer, a children's book based on the 1934 air rescue of the Uiver.
Carolyn thought this author caper seemed fun, so the "semi-writers", having retired from their respective medical and law careers, spent two and a half years collaborating.
IN OTHER NEWS:
"I did the first draft of it, which is basically just like the scaffolding," Carolyn explained.
"And then I would hand the chapters over to Loretta and she would put more cladding on it.
"I'm sitting there thinking it's perfect, but then I send it to Loretta and she will add more detail ... and when it comes back, I have to think, 'Yes, she has improved it, I'll go with that'."
The fictional work follows six mature females who drop their book club and hire an IT expert to help them become savvy in social media.
"That was just the little kernel of an idea, that older women are really not comfortable with social media," Carolyn said.
"I think they just go into it very trustingly," Loretta added.
"Don't know much about it and then realise things can go bad, or things can also go very well for some of them."
Set largely in Albury, with some invented details, the book's descriptions of landmarks will be recognisable to Border readers but have also attracted wider attention.
"People we've never met are writing [online], 'Oh, I want to go and stay in Albury now'," Loretta said.
The book is available at Dymocks, Albury, Beechworth Books, Collins Booksellers, Wagga, or online.
