The Rand-Walbundrie-Walla Giants claimed a thrilling two goal win against Brock-Burrum in Brocklesby on Saturday.
It was a tight contest for much of the game, with the Saints fighting back at every turn.
Jess Kotzur was solid for the Giants in defence, while Sarah Trainer held her ground well in the midcourt after joining the Hume league this season.
Mel McLellan also put up a strong performance in goals for the Giants, returning to the court in the second half after injuring her finger.
"The Burrum girls never gave up and had some great passages of play that made us fight that bit harder," Giants coach Tracey Oates said.
With a fresh look side this season, Oates said things were starting to fall into place for the Giants.
"We knew at the start of the year that we had a very different line-up," Oates said.
"I said to the girls it would take five or six games before they'll start to gel, and that's what's happened.
"We're certainly showing that what we've been planning and working towards is coming together nicely.
"It's exciting because you run the risk when you put a new team together and you hope it all works out.
"I think after a couple of weeks time when we can cement our form it will really come together."
The Giants currently sit on four wins and two losses, while the Saints also sit just behind on the same total.
The Giants will now prepare to face Culcairn this weekend in Walbundrie.
