Falls Creek recorded a low of -5 degrees overnight Sunday into Monday, with cool temperatures expected to continue with a low of -7 degrees predicted for Thursday.

Batlow, Tumbarumba and Laurel Hill recorded 5-10cm of snow between Sunday and Monday, according to the latest snow report for Selwyn Snow Resort, about 80km east of Tumbarumba.

In Albury-Wodonga, a maximum temperature of 11 degrees is predicted on Wednesday, with rain expected across the week before the temperature drops a minimum of one degree on Thursday and Friday.

Karl Gray said Dinner Plain had been transformed overnight with 10 to 12cms of 'soft, lovely' snow falling.

Falls Creek received 15cm of snow in the Village Bowl with another 30cm expected this week.

Falls Creek's Nathan Fenton said 28cm of fresh snow fell at Falls Creek as a much-hyped storm hit the alpine resort.

"Resort crews have been operating snowmaking all morning in the minus-4 temperatures to top up the natural falls," he said.

"This May snowfall is a great sign for the season ahead and may allow to build a base on the ski runs in the lead up to the June 8th opening weekend."

While Mt Hotham expected 'blizzard-like' conditions of high winds and heavy rainfall.

"Heavy snow began falling around 10pm last night at Hotham Alpine Resort with around 25cm of fresh snow. Snow is expected to fall to around 700m [on Monday]," Chris Hocking said.

Mr Hotham resident Katey Page said she was excited to hit the slopes.

"What an epic start to the winter here in Hotham, I can't wait it get out on my snowboard," she said.

"I'm very cold but this is what it's all about."
