The 19-year-old made the tough decision to depart NPL Queensland leaders Peninsula Power in the mid-season transfer window to return to Murray United.
He's already proving to be a key signing, given the suspension of wing-back Melkie Woldemichael for a straight red card in last weekend's 3-2 loss to Whittlesea Ranges.
Greenwood wants to help Murray achieve a top-six finish to remain in the second tier of Victorian competition.
"It was good to get away for a bit and try something different, experience a different league and competition," Greenwood said.
"They're still on top of their league at the moment, but I think coming back was the right choice.
"It's good to be around the boys again and people and coaches you know.
"You start to miss you family and a few things like that."

Greenwood admitted there isn't a huge difference in standard between the Queensland and Victorian leagues.
"Up there it's more tactical and not as physical," he said.
"For me, given my size, it made it easier for me to fit into a system up there and play a bit more football.
"The level is not too different, it's just different styles of football to adapt to.
"You're playing against different players, so you've got to try read them pretty early in the game."
Greenwood played right across the park in his previous years at Murray, but will more than likely take Woldemichael's spot until he returns.
"If things go pear-shaped with anyone else, I can easily fit in as a midfielder as well," he added.
"I was playing a similar role up there, I was at right back in a back four, so it's similar principles."
Greenwood now works for senior coach Elliot Jones at his Wodonga business and you can only imagine what the discussion is like.
"If what happened on the weekend (against Whittlesea) happens, we usually know when to stop and not talk about it," Greenwood laughed.
Murray hits the road to face the bottom side in NPL 2 West, Ballarat City, in another must-win clash on Saturday.
