Sussan Ley will immediately face tough questions in her new role as Environment Minister, in an appearance on the ABC's Q&A program on Monday.
She and other ministers were sworn in during a ceremony in Canberra on Wednesday.
After winning the Farrer election with 61.3 per cent of the two-candidate preferred vote, Ms Ley was returned to the Coalition cabinet for the first time since 2017.
She told The Border Mail's Farrer election forum that she was completely behind scientists' findings on man-made climate change.
"Of course we're transitioning to renewables, of course we're doing the things we need to do to get there and the government is investing in sensible measures to reduce emissions, practical ones," Ms Ley said.
"But we can't crash the economy in the process."
Q&A will be broadcast on Monday from 9.35pm.
