Teenage debutant Ethan Redcliffe kicked three goals in the home team's 13.6 (84) to 10.9 (69) thriller.
"He was under a fair bit of pressure, 15 minutes gone last quarter, game on the line and slotted it," jubilant coach Zac Fulford said.
The Bulldogs had averaged only 49 points per game and hadn't passed 67 in the first seven rounds.
Former interleague forward Tom Johnson also kicked three, with Redcliffe joining Daniel Wortmann and Ollie Greenhill in the best.
Cameron Dunne and Andrew Pretto were the Roos' top performers.
