The veterinarian has opted to continue a fortnightly unpaid Saturday morning segment on radio 2AY where he takes questions from listeners about animal problems.

"It keeps me grounded," Mr Clancy said before adding that it complemented doing occasional weekend shifts at his East Albury rooms.

"I did a Sunday shift at the clinic last week and it's just a really good way to keep your feet on the ground.

"It's also wonderful to continue to be able to serve clients who I've known now over 18-odd years."

Mr Clancy said no pet owners had used the opportunity to raise political points during their animal consultations.

The Liberal Party MP will enter his third week of parliamentary sittings from Tuesday.

In addition to his maiden speech, Mr Clancy has spoken to the Legislative Assembly about the Muslim month of fasting Ramadan and National Reconciliation Week.

He told of joining Islamic Society of Albury-Wodonga members for iftar, a fast-breaking observance.

"The themes I took away from that celebration were generosity and hospitality of the Islamic community," Mr Clancy said.

"Muslims rarely cause their generosity to be publicly known.

"For example, each year under the auspices of Carevan Albury the Islamic Society of Albury Wodonga contributes fresh meat to needy and homeless people - a wonderful gesture that reflects the generosity of Muslim people."

On reconciliation week, which ends with Mabo Day on Monday, Mr Clancy hailed government spending to aid the Stolen Generations, citing help for boys forcibly removed from their homes.

"I am proud to be part of a Government that is leading the way by providing $73 million in funding in response to the parliamentary inquiry report into Stolen Generations reparations, Unfinished Business," Mr Clancy said.

He concluded his speech by saying "giilang means story in the Wiradjuri language and then adding "I ask members to listen to, respect and acknowledge giilang, the story of our First Nations".
