Andrew Gregory House's Melbourne Street home was actually owned by his parents.
That is why his mother rushed there after a phone call about the graffiti.
House's father too arrived soon after in response to a phone call his wife received about the damage.
House's baseball bat snapped after hitting his mother's car, which she had parked in the driveway, Albury Local Court was told on Monday.
Police said House, 46, who has pleaded guilty to stalk or intimidate and two counts of destroy or damage property, was angered to see his parents outside his home.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Just after his mother called Triple-0, he walked outside with the bat and called out: "I warned you."
He struck the car then the bat broke.
"The (mother)," police said, "picked up the broken head of the bat and ran after the accused into the rear yard, followed by (his father) calling out to stop, which she did and returned to the front driveway."
When House was then seen carrying a shovel, his mother moved her car from the driveway to the street.
Police arrived soon after and after eventually gaining access to the house, found the accused on a couch.
Defence solicitor Angus Lingham said that while guilty pleas had been entered, he now would need time to prepare an application under section 32 of the Mental Health Act.
That would be so House could be diverted from the courts into mental health care and treatment.
Mr Lingham said the matter would need to be adjourned for about eight weeks.
The case will be mentioned again on August 14.
