A STABBING victim has walked into a takeaway venue in South Albury to seek help for his injuries before undergoing surgery.

The victim entered South Albury Takeaway about 3pm on Monday with wounds to his stomach.
Employee Elio Grelli had been inside the eatery when the distressed man arrived.
"He's come in off the street with really bad stab wounds to the stomach," he said.
"We helped him out and he took off."
Mr Grelli said staff had tried to help the man in any way they could.

The victim didn't say where the stabbing occurred, but Mr Grelli said it had been at another location.
"He just needed assistance," he said.
A police spokeswoman said the man had been undergoing surgery on Monday afternoon.
The extent of the man's injuries were unclear.
Detectives attended the area and set up a crime scene near the takeaway store and are investigating.
"Police are investigating after a man presented to a shop on Ebden Street, South Albury, just after 3pm today, believed to be suffering a stab wound to the abdomen," the spokeswoman said.
"Police have been told the man was taken to Albury Base Hospital and is undergoing surgery.
"Officers from the Murray River Police District have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident."
