Myrtleford coach Jake Sharp produced a contender for the season's most courageous mark with an inspirational effort against Wangaratta.
Late in the third term, with the Saints probably home, Sharp charged with the flight of the ball and marked with one of the league's biggest in Josh Porter bearing down.
"I actually had no idea (Porter was approaching), I thought Brady Sharp (my brother) was saying, 'you're clear, you're clear'," Jake laughed.
"Brady was actually saying, ' go hard, go hard'.
"When it's your turn to go, you've got to go, 'Ports' being one of my good mates, might have thought, 'I'll save him for another day'."
