Myrtleford's Jake Sharp opened up about balancing his role as playing coach after the win over Wangaratta.
"You bet, it's a massive juggle," he said.
"I didn't really feel like I was in the game at all last week (because of the quad injury).
"I made a conscious effort to have a good week on the track and really set myself for this."
FAMOUS 56
Myrtleford's Brad Murray wore number 56 against the Pies.
It revived memories of another star player to don the unlikely figure.
Albury's Paul Spargo wore a long-sleeved jumper to mask a shoulder injury, which had forced him out for part of the 1996 season.
He starred in finals, guiding the Tigers to an upset win over Lavington.

UNHERALDED
The Saints have picked up a handy type in West Australian Blake Parker.
He arrived with little fanfare, but is a wholehearted performer.
Parker produced a strong tackle on James McClounan when he had a half chance early in the first quarter.
DALY DOUBLE
Could Albury veteran Shaun Daly grab a second Morris Medal?
Daly has been named in the Tigers' top six in seven of the nine games, including three club best on grounds.
The utility is a proven vote winner, given he snapped Albury's 15-year medal drought in 2011.
PIGEONS PLANS
Will Yarrawonga shape the finals in the run home?
The Pigeons will almost certainly miss finals as they have just a three-six record.
But they could do some damage to Wodonga Raiders or Wangaratta Rovers.
"In the games we lost earlier in the year, we had inside 50s more times than the opposition, there's a hell of a lot of positives," coach Damian Sexton said.
'CASE' IN POINT
Sexton's ploy of making his players experience at least two parts of the ground could have played a role in Matt Casey's breakout game in the forward line.
Casey kicked seven goals in the 35-point loss to Albury after spending much of the year in defence.
"When 'Symesy' (Brandon Symes) went down, we needed a forward and he's a good catch," he said.
'WANG'S' INTENT
It's been well documented Wangaratta is missing a third of its starting side and all six would be in the club's top 10 players.
But where was the intensity against the Saints?
Michael Newton, Matt Kelly and Co. will certainly add class and confidence, but they can't help an individual's desire.
The Pies host North Albury on their Fight MND Day.
FRESH INJURIES
Still on the Pies and they'll be hoping the injury curse soon ends.
Defender Ben Douthie limped off at one stage early in the third term and three minutes later, fellow backman Michael Bordignon also hobbled off, although he appeared to be nursing a sore neck after the game.
The pair was named in the best, while Daniel Boyle suffered a late knee injury.
