Englishman Remell Davis played in the Savoys' 3-0 defeat at home against Boomers, but was nowhere to be seen against Wodonga Heart in the final round before the mid-season break.

Myrtleford midfielder Jesse Stephens confirmed the departure on Thursday.

"He's parted ways with the club," Stephens revealed.

"I don't know where he will end up, but it's not with us.

"He was a great player and obviously we need to adjust with him not there.

"We think we might be stronger as a group after his departure."

Davis was Myrtleford's equal leading scorer with 12 goals, but Stephens is confident they have the depth to cover his output.

Prior to last week's 12-0 drubbing of Wodonga Heart, the Savoys were held goalless by Boomers (3-0) and Wangaratta (2-0).

"As a group, we'll have enough people to chip in with the goals and create enough chances to hopefully cover that loss," Stephens added.

Myrtleford faces another test against a top-four opponent in Albury City at Jelbart Park on Sunday.

"It will be good to make a statement and show we can win big games against the top sides," Stephens said.

"Obviously the win against Heart was good, but the real test since the last two games will be this weekend.

"I don't think we played that badly, it was maybe not taking our chances and a bit of bad luck.

"We hate losing any time and certainly the Wang game is always hard to take.

"I think the Boomers game was where the performance wasn't as good as the Wang game and we were certainly all disappointed there.

"We know if we can turn it around like last season, we'll still be alright come the end."

Myrtleford started slowly against City in their previous meeting, before finishing 3-1 winners.

"We probably can't afford to start that slowly again because they'll probably take their chances this time," Stephens said.

"It will be a tough game and they're a good side, but I think our best will still be enough to get the result."

Albury City captain Campbell Taylor, who leads AWFA's Star Goalkeeper standings by a vote, admitted his side has struggled to find the back of the net against the top sides.

He still considers Myrtleford one of the front-runners.

"They're always a threat and I don't believe they've lost too much with their departures," Taylor said.

City striker Pat Brown has missed the past three weeks with a thigh complaint, but trained strongly on Tuesday and will be considered for selection.
