The Albury Gang Show continues its long history of stage shows with Lights, Camera, Next!!! at Albury Entertainment Centre on Friday and Saturday.
It is the 54th annual production by Albury-Wodonga chapters of Scouts and Girl Guides.
Albury Gang Show assistant producer-director Harley Maclachlan said almost 100 people were involved in the energetic, family-friendly show.
Maclachlan said there was a cast of 57 and up to about 30 helpers backstage.
"To be in the cast you need to be a registered Scout or Guide," he said.
"The cast ranges in age from 10 to mid-40s."
Maclachlan said the original and authentic stage show was many months in the making.
"We've been building the show since August last year," Maclachlan said.
"Everything is original material; the story-line is fresh and original.
"The cast started rehearsing in February."
Maclachlan said in Lights, Camera, Next!!! three acts tried to pitch an advertising commercial to a director with little success.
He said the audience would watch a trio perform for a cantankerous director, Disney villains go on trial and some singing vegetables fall for each other.
"It's a family-friendly show with a PG rating," he said.
MORE ENTERTAINMENT NEWS:
The original Gang Show was written and produced for the first time by a Rover Scout, Ralph Reader in 1932, in London.
Ralph produced the show to raise money for a swimming pool, which began a tradition that is still going strong in many parts of the world today.
Gang Shows are produced throughout Britain and Europe, in the US, Asia, New Zealand and Australia.
Maclachlan said Gang Shows were an institution in Australia.
He said there were between 20 and 30 Gang Shows done throughout Australia each year.
"They all write their own, original material," Maclachlan said.
Lights, Camera, Next!!! runs at Albury Entertainment Centre on Friday at 7.30pm and Saturday at 1.30pm and 7.30pm.
All tickets are $20 but under two years are free on the knee.
