Zac, 14, was among the young artists chosen to join the cream of Australian country music mentors at Tamworth for the 2019 Junior Academy.
Aged from 10 to 18, 22 singers and five instrumentalists were selected from NSW, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia and New Zealand.
A Wodonga Middle Years College student, Zac said he had settled on country rock as a genre last year.
He said he had explored contemporary/pop styles but country was the right fit.
"Country rock is something that is easy listening and you can just rock along to," he said.
Performing as part of a duo with his sister Eliza, Zac said Eliza had joined the Junior Academy lineup at Tamworth two years ago.
"I'm looking forward to learning more about the country music industry and improving my music," Zac said.
