Despite falling 3-1, the hosts didn't look out of their depth against the benchmark of the competition.
The Spitfires defended well in a goalless first quarter and survived a penalty stroke midway through the second term.
However, Laura Gray put Tuggeranong in front just a minute later after a defensive lapse from the hosts.
Samantha Bowles doubled the advantage for Tuggeranong late in the third term, but the Spitfires weren't going away.

Summer Sutherland got on the end of a good transition from defence to keep the hosts in the game at 2-1 early in the final term.
But Tuggeranong was able to steady and scored again through Bowles to capture a 3-1 victory.
Spitfires coach Matt Davis was rapt with the defensive effort of his side.
"We kept them to three, which was pretty good and we actually had some chances as well," Davis said.
"It was good to get that goal and make it 2-1 because we were still in it.
"I think we played four quarters today, which was definitely a goal of ours."
Summer Sutherland, Sam Daly, Sherren Rahaley and Chloe Jones were the standouts.
