It was all tied up going into the first break, but a big third quarter from the Panthers saw them secure the lead at the Albury Sports Ground.
Sarah Meredith worked hard in defence to keep the Tigers' shooters at bay, while Maggie Young showed versatility to switch between defence and goals throughout the day.
Panthers coach Tamara Mathews said Meredith would be up there as one of the best players the competition has seen.
"I think her consistency is one of her greatest strengths, you rarely see a bad game from her," Mathews said.
"She probably doesn't get the accolades of some other defenders in the competition, but she still always takes the time to try and improve areas in her game."
The win now takes Lavington to nine this season, dropping just the one game to benchmark side Corowa-Rutherglen.
Goal keeper Rochelle Hill was the best for Albury in a gutsy performance, while Gabrielle Mcrae had a good game in the midcourt.
The Tigers were also without shooter Jess Fisher-Curnow.
"We fought hard to get the ball in there, but we're vertically challenged," Tigers coach Sarah Moore said.
"That was probably the main difference."
In other Ovens and Murray games on Saturday, Myrtleford posted their third win of the season when they defeated Wodonga by 11 goals.
Rebecca Piazza was outstanding for the Saints in defence, while Eden Broz delivered 43 goals in the win.
Laura Collins and Maddie McFarlane were the best for the Bulldogs, after coming off the back of their first win of the season last weekend.
At J.C Lowe Oval it was the Wodonga Raiders who came out victorious this time around against the Pigeons, 42-37.
Sisters Shaylah and Mackensey House worked well together in the Raiders attacking end, while Bridget Cassar stepped up for the Pigeons in goals to shoot 17.
Corowa-Rutherglen remains undefeated this season after securing their tenth straight win against the Wangaratta Rovers.
Goal shooting sensation Grace Senior finished the day off with 47 goals, while Brooke Bice was also strong.
Morgan Byrne was a standout for the Rovers.
And reigning premiers Wangaratta were too strong for North Albury at home notching up the win by 22 goals.
Amanda Umanski and Kate Dean were the best for the Magpies at either ends of the court, with defender Elyse Boyer starring for the Hoppers.
