After a scoreless first half, United wasted no time finding their feet with Miruna Muroz heading home the first from a corner just two minutes after the break.
Muroz got a second before the hour mark when she beat Wangaratta keeper Jacinta Findlay one-on-one and the Greens had control when Alicia Torcaso fired in another from beyond 18 yards.
Leanne Branson pulled one back for Wangaratta with a quality long-range effort in the 65th minute, before Torcaso iced the game with a desperate chase and finish with three minutes to play.
OTHER SPORTS NEWS:
"It's a relief. The best part of today's game was I got the team back," Greens' coach Tony Cigana said.
"We went through a bit of a lull period and didn't play well against the lesser teams, that's no discredit to the teams below us, but I think today was a real telling point of where we were going to go forward as a team."
United will be without midfielder Alicia Beer for the rest of the season due to her army commitments.
In the weekend's other game, Melrose beat Boomers 2-0 at Kelly Park.
St Pats and Albury City had the bye.
The senior women's ladder after round 12 is: Albury United 32, St Pats 22, Wangaratta 22, Albury City 21, Melrose 10, Boomers 10.
