A Border teenager has made her teachers excited, proud "and a little bit jealous" through her selection for next month's London International Youth Science Forum.

Wodonga Senior Secondary College year 12 student Gurbani Rajpal, 17, will join 500 other students at the two-week annual residential event, which began in 1959.
Gurbani looked forward to meeting people from around the world who shared her interest in science and hoped later to study engineering.

"Try and figure out ways that I can help solve the problems that our world is facing right now and could possibly face in the future," she said.
The student's participation in the National Youth Science Forum earlier this year played a part in her successful application for the London event, as did references from her teachers.
Gurbani said time spent at her father's engineering business as a child helped spark her love of science.
"I just really wanted to know more," she said.
"I was like, 'This seems fun, let's just do science'."
WSSC learning specialist for mathematics Stephen Alderton congratulated Gurbani on her achievement.
"There's only a handful of students in Australia that get this opportunity, so she's pretty much representing the country, which is very exciting."
