The Albury-raised and now Melbourne-based singer/songwriter will launch her debut solo EP, Flowers For Your Worst Days, in Wodonga later in June.
Currie said the six-track EP was a real rite of passage.
"It's quite reminiscent of my coming of age," she said.
"It's definitely an emotional journey from track one to six.
"A lot of the songs came about during my transition from Albury to Melbourne; it was a tumultuous period in life with some relationships completely breaking down and other issues coming to light for the first time."
Best known to festival audiences throughout Australia as the powerful co-lead singer of the celebrated 10-piece folk/rock band The Northern Folk, Currie's first solo project is a more mellow affair.
Her songs blend the broken, intimate fears of youth with a vocal intensity beyond her years.
Lyrically and harmonically mature, she paints portraits remarkable as much for their emotional power as their vulnerability.
"It's a vulnerable collection of songs," Currie explained.
"It's six songs that represent the most poignant moments of the last two years of my life.
"It was hard to perform them the first one or two times but then you become a bit desensitized because the songs take on a new meaning for different people."
Two singles have been lifted from the release - Daytime TV and Norma Jean - both feature piano and strings along with acoustic guitar and Currie's vocals.
Currie marked the EP's release in May with a gig in Melbourne CBD.
"Musically, it's really quite sparse, which really allows the vocals to sit at the front and tell the narrative," she said.
The EP was recorded at Sing Sing Studios in South Yarra with engineer Adam Rhodes, who had worked with The Northern Folk.
TELL ME WHAT'S HAPPENING:
Currie said she was thrilled to launch her EP at the Butter Factory Theatre in Wodonga.
Having done drama classes there and performing on stage, the theatre held special memories for her.
"It has a sentimentality for me," Currie said.
Currie will be joined at the launch on Friday, June 28, by special guests, Lauren Eddy and Tess Guthrie.
Tickets cost $15 pre-sale or $20 at the door (subject to availability).
Doors and bar will open at 7.15pm.
