Held in memory of the late Dave Chandler - a past player and president at Wodonga who lost his battle with cancer, the club didn't hesitate in this year supporting another member within the hockey community in the fight of his life.
The proceeds each year are donated to Cancer Council Australia, but Wodonga was more than happy to see this year's total go to former Magpies player Andrew Maggs and his family to help with his cancer battle.
Chandler's son, Marc, has returned to the area and will play for Wodonga in the division one clash at Wodonga Hockey Centre on Sunday.
Maggs' brother, Jeremy, will run out for Magpies and is incredibly thankful of the Bulldogs' gesture.
"It's massive," Jeremy said.
"When our president told me, none of us wanted to take away from the Cancer Council.
"(Wodonga's) Shae Billingsley is a good friend of mine and good friends with Andrew's wife and she rang me and said Marc's mum was pretty adamant she wanted to help Andrew out.
"He's got a pretty tough fight ahead, but he's in good spirits and been overwhelmed by the support, not just from Wodonga Hockey Club, but everyone in general. It's helping us all out."

Jeremy admitted the financial unknown is the scariest part of this journey.
"We don't know if he'll ever be able to work again," he said.
"His sick leave is coming up soon and his wife is still on maternity leave.
"The biggest struggle is driving to Melbourne and staying in hotels without any money coming in. They just built a house as well.
"Sometimes I feel really selfish about it all because he's still with us and always has that fight.
"It's always been a great week between the two clubs, but what Wodonga is doing means the world."
Chandler last played for the Bulldogs 12 years ago and relocated to Sydney to join the Australian Navy.
He's honoured to be playing for his father.
"I thought I was going to come back and play thirds, but they threw me straight into first grade," Chandler laughed.
"I just had a little fella so I got out (of the navy), I was going away too much, so I moved back here.
"I'm still adjusting to first grade."
Incredibly, the 14 previous editions of the Dave Chandler Cup are split at seven apiece.
Entry into Sunday's game is a gold coin donation, with raffles and an all-day barbecue part of the fundraising efforts.
"It goes to cancer in general, but if we can give it to a local member of the hockey fraternity, it makes even more sense for us," Wodonga president Kyle Brereton added.
Dave's wife, Lorraine, will be in attendance to present the cup to the winning team on the day.
Start time is 3.30pm.
In other matches, CR United takes on Falcons, while Norths face Wombats.
