Police said the man went to work on February 9, though a friend and workmate who lived at the Thurgoona house stayed home.
Around mid-morning he noticed the half-bottle of vodka from a drinking session the night before.
After showering, having heard banging in the house, he saw the bottle was missing.
On opening the front door he saw Taylor getting into a ute driven by a man aged about 70.
She had put a large amount of her ex-partner's property into the ute, including three fishing rods, a leaf blower, two deck chairs, Richmond Football Club paraphernalia, the jacket with $4400 in $50 notes and what ultimately became a quarter-bottle of vodka.
The Lavington man who drove the ute thought Taylor was taking her own property, which he retrieved for police from another location.
