Neville Gregory Huggins attended the Albury Police Station on Wednesday.
He was arrested, which was followed by a search warrant at a storage container on Catherine Crescent in Lavington.
Investigators removed a backpack which had six firearms, a homemade electric stun device and a cattle prod.
OTHER COURT NEWS:
Huggins, 37, was charged with manufacturing a prohibited weapon, six counts of possessing a prohibited firearm and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon.
He was also charged with ammunition possession.
Huggins appeared before Albury Local Court on Thursday and was refused bail.
He will return to court on August 20.
Huggins had initially attended the police station for a Victorian matter.
