The 2019 music event opened at the Albury Entertainment Centre Theatrette yesterday.
Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod music coordinator Faith Casley-Porter said about 400 entrants would compete in 90 categories this year.
She said entrants came from Albury-Wodonga and as far away as Yarrawonga, Wangaratta, Mount Beauty, Bright and Wagga.
"The number of entrants is similar to last year but we have a lot more school groups this year," she said.
"We have senior school choirs on Tuesday morning and HSC/VCE categories Tuesday afternoon.
"School bands will be all day Wednesday."
The music competition will run for seven days, finishing with school band and choirs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
TELL ME WHAT'S HAPPENING:

The second part of the Albury Wodonga Eisteddfod will run at Albury Entertainment Centre in late July.
