But before that takes place, Wodonga residents will have a chance to contribute to Retrospect: Community Installation Project.
There will be a series of installations facilitated by local artists through workshops.
Vicki Luke, who has contributed to the redevelopment of High Street and installations at Mann Central, is involved.
"I've had a lovely opportunity in Retrospect to respond to the history of Wodonga Arts Space, and my work is a series of veils," she said.
"The content comes from visitor books, drawings kids have made during workshops and some of the artwork from over the years.
"I'm looking forward to members of the community coming in and seeing the beautiful installations that are developing here."
Susie Losch will lead a symbolic installation and invite people to add to it with their own work made from clay in a workshop in July.
The final installation will take place from July 22 with lead artist Beth Peters.
The tender for the Wodonga library and gallery redevelopment is yet to be awarded and works aren't expected to start until Spring.
The project will double the space that was available at Arts Space, and two galleries separated by a spiral staircase and public area will mean exhibitions can be installed without having to close the entire gallery.

Luke said she was excited for the new gallery.
"I've had a solo exhibition here about climate change - it's a big space so you need quite a lot of artworks - and I've been involved in some group exhibitions," she said.
"This is an opportunity to re-imagine it.
"Retrospect is a chance to celebrate the space and there's the most beautiful range of comments from people who have come to cultural events here."
Arts Space Wodonga was officially opened in February, 2003.
The first exhibition was called 'Praxis I' and featured contemporary pieces by Ken Raff, Ann Collins, Peter O'Dwyer, Karey Quirk, Abi Thompson, Helen Carter, Sue Morris, Stephen Anderson and Mary-Rose Riley.
