Oke's Toy Warehouse, due to close on Saturday, had two check-out staff working continuously to serve customers who were taking advantage of the 50 per cent off closing down sale.
Cars drove in and out of the full parking lot, with some people looking at the line of people and choosing not to stay.
Staff directed The Border Mail to the chain's Shepparton store for comment, but messages have not yet been answered.
EARLIER: A central Albury toy store will close within a week.
Oke's Toy Warehouse announced over the weekend its Wilson Street store will shut its doors on Saturday, June 29, with a 50 per cent off sale now running.
The Shepparton shop, which began in 1980, will continue to trade as normal.
IN OTHER NEWS:
Customers have been quick to respond to the Facebook announcement about the Albury closure, with several expressing sadness.
"These types of stores don't get replaced and result in fewer jobs and fewer choices for the community to keep the shopping dollars local," one wrote.
Oke's Toy Warehouse is described as 100 per cent Australian owned and locally operated.
