An Upper Murray farm which had been owned by the same family for nearly 50 years has sold at auction for $3.7 million.

The Rocklea property at Pine Mountain comprising of 252 hectares was owned by the Daly family until a hotly contested auction conducted by agents Corcoran Parker at the Walwa Memorial Hall last Thursday.
The successful bidder was Simon Tooth.

"It was a very strong sale and the property sold well over the reserve," agent Mike Weller said.
Rocklea was operated by Paul and Jane Daly as a working dairy farm milking 160 cows in addition to running beef cattle.
It has an estimated carrying capacity of up to 250 cows with more than three kilometres of frontage to the Murray River.
Rocklea also has a permanent 177 megalitre irrigation licence supplying two pumping stations that service 120 uprights covering 36 hectare under sprays.
The four-bedroom farmhouse was originally built in 1898, but significantly renovated in recent years.
Rocklea is situated an area with annual rainfall of 825mm and backs onto a national park.
