A door-to-door mini bus service into Albury from its surrounding small towns is not quite the Border's version of Uber, but has been described as the future of regional transport.

The service, operated by Regional Buses On Demand, started taking passengers between Holbrook and Albury on Monday in a 12-seat minibus.
This adds to the existing service for people in Burrumbuttock, Jindera and Walla, which started a few months ago.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, the bus starts picking up passengers at Holbrook at 7.30am and goes through towns including Culcairn on the way to Albury. On Fridays it will take a different route through towns including Woomargama.
On Tuesdays and Thursdays the bus will take passengers to Wagga. They will be returned home by 4.30pm.
Regional Buses On Demand partner Matthew Kane said the service also included transfers around locations in the city throughout the day.
"The beauty of the service is we pick up people from their home and we bring them into Albury, but when we get them into Albury we won't just forget about them - we'll take them to wherever they want to go," he said.
"At the end of the day, we get them home and look after them."
The bus will cost between $2.50 and $14.80 for concession card holders per day and is subsidised by the NSW government.

Albury MP Justin Clancy took a quick ride on the bus on Tuesday morning.
He said the "moderate" pricing was fair and the government would be monitoring demand for the service over its initial six-month trial.
"We don't want to be funding just transporting air around, we want to be having people on these buses," he said.
"Living in our smaller regional towns, there's often a need for medical services, legal service, shopping - having the opportunity to come into Lavington or Albury is really important for them."
Mr Clancy said trying to make the buses more accessible for people of all abilities, including those with walkers, was one of the issues that would be looked at during the trial.
