A Night Out with Danny Green was being planned to support the four-time world champion's Stop the Coward's Punch campaign.
It is due to be held at the Wagga RSL Club on July 19.
But organiser Kerry Flinn said despite strong indications of support from the community when he began planning the event, it has not translated into ticket sales.
"We were expecting 300 people, we were expecting a packed house," Mr Flinn said.
"Danny Green goes to packed audiences everywhere he goes, except for Wagga.
"We have violence in Wagga and these coward's punch attacks affect people's lives forever. This is a really important issue."
Mr Flinn said unless a minimum of 200 tickets were sold in the next week, the event would be cancelled.
