After scoring inside the opening 10 minutes, Murray United left Lawton Park Reserve empty-handed as Langwarrin snatched a 2-1 victory with the match-winner in the 86th minute.
Aaron Midon put Murray in front in the ninth minute when his free kick took a slight deflection and found the bottom right corner.
Murray was on top for the majority of the first half, but a costly error left Langwarrin an opening in the 39th minute and Lucas Portelli made no mistake to level the contest at the break.
Despite conceding, it was a strong response from Murray in the second half, who continued to create quality chances on goal.
Tom Youngs missed two shots, while Midon and Zac Walker both had one-on-one opportunities saved by the Langwarrin goalkeeper Fraser Maclaren.
However, the hosts were able to absorb the pressure and pinched the three points at the death with substitute David Stirton finding the breakthrough goal less than five minutes from full-time.

It was another frustrating afternoon for Murray coach Elliot Jones.
"We played well for large chunks of the game and certainly had the better of the chances," Jones admitted.
"But again key moments let us down.
"An error let them in for their first goal before half-time, which gave them some energy.
"We responded well in the second half and had three or four clear-cut chances to go ahead, but we couldn't take our chance and finish them off.
"They then go down the other end and score a really well-taken goal and it's deflating for the boys."
Murray wasn't helped by other results around the league to fall three wins behind Goulburn Valley Suns and Manningham United - who hold down all-important spots in the top-six.
Manningham United saw off Box Hill United 3-1, while the Suns scored an impressive 4-1 win on the road to Brunswick City.
Another tough task awaits the Border outfit next weekend when they host third-placed Northcote City at La Trobe.
"We will work hard this week and prepare for Northcote," Jones said.
"I'd be more concerned if we playing poorly and not creating chances, but at the moment we just lack that finished product in front of goals.
"It will come, we will remain positive and stick together and continue to train hard."
The ladder after round 20 is: Eastern Lions 40, Bulleen 37, Northcote City 32, Langwarrin 30, Manningham United 29, GV Suns 29, Melbourne City 20, Murray United 20, Box Hill United 18, Springvale 17.
