In only his second match for the club, Payne was unstoppable as his side ran-out 62.30 (402) to 0.1 (1) victors.
"The ball just kept coming down," Payne said.
"I'm just an old fella getting a bit lucky.
"I think I kicked five points before I got a goal.
"Ardmona is doing it pretty tough at the moment."
Payne's previous biggest haul was 12 for Tungamah against Shepparton East in 2009.
The veteran forward only came out of retirement last month after being pressured by mates at Stanhope.
"I wasn't going to play but they convinced me to finish off the season," he said.
Payne played six matches for Trinity Beach last season.
Stanhope is sixth on the ladder after 11 rounds.
