The Albury-Wodonga Bandits missed an opportunity to help cement their spot in the top eight of the NBL1 women's competition on Saturday night.
Just four points stood between the Bandits and the Eltham Wildcats at the Lauren Jackson Sports Centre, with the visitors holding on to claim the win in a nail-biter.
Bandits' star guard Nat Hurst was the clear standout scorer for the home side on the night, reaching 26-points.
Guard Cherise Daniel notched up 19-points, while tall centre Jessie Edwards ended her night with 16-points and 12 rebounds.
Young gun Caitlin Reid made her presence felt in her minutes on court, managing to hit the scoreboard for the Bandits.
Eltham also had their fair share of scorers, with four players shooting 13-points or above in the clash.
The loss for the Bandits now has Eltham hot on their heels in the competition's standings, with just a one game buffer separating them.
There's also a difference of just one game between the Bandits and seventh placed Dandeong as a game between the two side's approaches in the coming round.
The Bandits will have a big battle on their hands come Friday night when they travel to take on top of the table team Bendigo, who have posted just the one loss this season.
From there, the home side will have a quick turnaround to meet Dandenong at the Lauren Jackson Sport Centre on Saturday night.
Just two rounds remain with the Bandits set to have two more home games.
