A childcare worker accused of sexually assaulting a little girl under his care will stand trial over the alleged offences next year.

Lucas Garratt, aged in his mid-20s, allegedly abused the girl multiple times while babysitting her in her Border home on August 28 last year.
He had looked after the girl through Bumble Bees childcare centre, but no longer works there.
It was revealed during a court hearing last month that the underwear of the victim allegedly contained Garratt's DNA.

He has pleaded not guilty to the charges and a directions hearing was held in Melbourne County Court on Monday.
The case has been adjourned for trial in the Wodonga County Court circuit, starting on February 3, 2020.
