The NBL1 competition will celebrate Indigenous round this weekend with the Albury-Wodonga Bandits set to don Indigenous jumpers for the occasion.
The league has 15 players across the men's and women's competitions registered as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders, including Bandits' star guard Deba George.
George welcomed the upcoming round as well as the special jumpers designed by local artist Bud Kennedy.
"It's a big thing culture wise to have an Indigenous round," Deba said.
"We've always wanted to have an Indigenous round just like you'd see in the AFL or NRL.
"I have a lot of pride in my culture as a Torres Strait Islander and in Indigenous culture overall."
George has been selected multiple times to represent the Australian Indigenous All-Stars team, playing in the fifth annual series against the New Zealand Maori Men's National Team in September last year.
"We represent all Indigenous culture, it's a big honour," George said.
The Bandits' will be among five teams in the competition that will be wearing special Indigenous uniforms for the weekend's games, with Geelong Supercats, Kilsyth Cobras, Knox Raiders and Bendigo Braves all on board.
Referees will also wear special Indigenous uniforms.
NBL Chief Executive Jeremy Loeliger also welcomed the upcoming round.
"We're delighted that we have a number of Indigenous players in NBL1," Loeliger said.
"We are committed to working with Indigenous Australia to ensure we continue to create pathways for Indigenous players in our game.
"Indigenous Australians have played an important role in the development of Australian basketball with the likes of Patty Mills and Jawai playing in the NBL and NBA."

The Bandits are gearing up for two games this weekend in their last double header of the season against the Bendigo Braves and Dandenong Rangers.
To keep their finals dreams alive the men will be looking to come away victorious in both, something they haven't been able to do in double headers so far this season.
George admitted while they face tough opposition, wins are still within reach for the Border team.
"This weekend will be really tough playing against two good teams," George said.
"They're games that we can get as long as we can come out with the right mindset and play aggressively from the start at both ends with defence and offence.
"I think we'll be fine."
George has had a slightly different role in the Bandits' line-up this season compared to last, often starting games on the bench.
The star guard has still been a heavy scoring contributor for the Bandits' averaging 18-points per game.
"I've played in teams before where I've had to come off the bench, I don't mind at all," George said.
"It's about whatever plan we come up with to help us win."
The Bandits have a home game on Saturday night.
