A North Albury thug who carried out a savage, unprovoked attack on a man suffering from an acquired brain injury later had no memory of it because he was so drunk.

Kade Anthony Burt repeatedly punched the victim, kicked him and stomped on his torso as he lay cowering on the ground.
The only indicator of what might have motivated Burt lay in a conversation he had with the victim before he unleashed his attack in Mate Street, North Albury, in the early hours of March 26.
"Why are you looking at me funny?" Burt asked the man.
"I have memory loss," the victim replied, "and sometimes I can't help staring."

Albury Local Court heard this week that the victim suffered a brain injury as a child that caused ongoing memory loss and which "makes the victim a vulnerable person within society".
The victim went to the APCO service station about 2am, bought a coffee and then headed back outside. Burt then arrived in a car, driven by his mother.
Not happy with the man's reply he punched the victim to the mouth with his left fist, quickly followed by a right punch to the face.
"The accused grabbed the victim in a bear hug and violently threw him to the ground," police said.
Burt then dragged the victim a few metres closer to the roadway.
He kicked the victim to the back, punched him several more times to the face "and then stomped on the victim's torso three times".
Burt got back into the car, then got out again and punched the victim "a number of times more".
He fell, so Burt kicked him again.
Police said the victim was "completely submissive" and suffered a cut and swollen lip and and pain to his left elbow.
Defence lawyer Mark Cronin said he could not "put any good light" on what happened.
"This is no excuse, but clearly his behaviour is affected by his very high level of intoxication at the time."
Burt, 25, who spent 102 days in custody, was put on a 12-month intensive corrections order after pleading guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
He must complete 150 hours of community service and abide by a 9pm to 6am curfew.
